Radio host Ray Hadley has slammed defence minister Richard Marles for using RAAF planes like a 'personal Uber' taxi service after his VIP flights ran up a $3.6million bill.
Flight tracker data reveals up to 70 VIP RAAF flights have flown in and out of Avalon airport south of Melbourne since March, just 20km from the deputy prime minister's home in Geelong.
It's alleged Mr Marles has been taking RAAF flights instead of scheduled commercial flights via Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, to dodge a one-hour, 90km drive home.
The Labor minister has now imposed a media blackout on his VIP flights as details emerged of the multi-million dollar bill which he has run up since last year.
'That's what happens when people come to power,' Hadley raged on 2GB on Wednesday.
'They lose all sense of reality - and the deputy prime minister has certainly lost that. The deputy PM and Defence Minister is using RAAF jets like Uber...and it's costing us a stack of money.'
Mr Marles has angrily hit back at the allegations, and branded it 'Liberal muckraking' by Opposition leader Peter Dutton's office.

It's claimed the allegations are based on flawed and error-riddled trip data information compiled by one of Mr Dutton's staff and leaked to the media.
A spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister told Daily Mail Australia: 'This is another sloppy Liberal spreadsheet which has been whipped up without pause for thought.
'The Leader of the Opposition's office has pushed out a spreadsheet riddled with factual errors and planes which appear to disappear completely.
'This is a clumsy and desperate attempt at muckraking from the Leader of the Opposition for an asset which he himself would not come clean about.
'All travel by the Deputy Prime Minister in his role as Defence Minister or as Acting Prime Minister is in accordance with relevant guidelines and security procedures.
'The Deputy Prime Minister routinely travels on commercial flights both for sitting weeks and other business travel.'
The row blew up after the defence department blocked details of where and when the minister had taken flights, claiming that decision was taken on 'security advice'.
But the government will not reveal any more details about the security warning.
VIP flight information has been available for more than 55 years in Australia since the Harold Holt government tried to hide and deny details of ministers' flights in 1967.
It's alleged Mr Marles has been taking RAAF flights to Avalon instead of scheduled commercial flights via Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, to dodge a one-hour, 90km drive home
But in 2022, Mr Marles ordered the information be removed from the public domain, with only details of the total cost now made available for each senior JetBlack minister.
On Wednesday, Hadley blasted the minister for the cover up and for trying to 'save himself a one-hour chauffeur driven drive from from Tullamarine'.
'Mr Marles who has the power to book the flight for himself as defence minister, won't publicly confirm whether some of the flights are his own bookings or new security advice,' he added.
